Key Points

  • Trump Media & Technology Group sold another 2,628 Bitcoin, reducing its holdings to approximately 4,261 BTC.
  • Galaxy Research estimates the Coldcard wallet security incident has resulted in losses totaling 1,367 BTC, worth about $88.6 million.
  • The FTX Recovery Trust has begun distributing another $900 million to former customers, bringing total repayments to an estimated $11 billion.
  • The developments highlight continued activity across Bitcoin treasury management, crypto security and post-bankruptcy asset recovery.

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind the Truth Social platform, has continued reducing its Bitcoin holdings after transferring another 2,628 BTC, valued at roughly $165 million, to Crypto.com.

According to blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain, Trump Media originally accumulated approximately 11,542 BTC at an average purchase price of $118,522 per Bitcoin before gradually selling portions of its treasury over the past seven months.

The latest transaction increases the company’s reported Bitcoin sales to approximately 7,281 BTC, with an estimated total value of $545 million based on average selling prices calculated by Lookonchain.

Blockchain intelligence platform Arkham estimates Trump Media still holds approximately 4,261 BTC, worth nearly $270 million at current market prices.

The Bitcoin sales coincide with the launch of the company’s new subscription-based Truth API, which provides institutional clients with low-latency access to market-moving Truth Social posts.

Coldcard Wallet Investigation Expands

Researchers continue investigating the Coldcard wallet security incident, with Galaxy Research identifying 4,585 wallet addresses potentially affected by the vulnerability.

Galaxy estimates total losses have reached approximately 1,367 BTC, currently valued at around $88.6 million.

The incident is believed to involve a flaw affecting wallet seed generation on certain Coldcard devices, potentially reducing the randomness used to generate recovery phrases. If confirmed, the weakened entropy could have allowed attackers to derive private keys and move funds from affected wallets.

Separately, CryptoQuant Head of Research Julio Moreno reported a sharp increase in smaller Bitcoin transfers, noting that wallets holding less than one Bitcoin collectively moved approximately 39,600 BTC in a single day.

According to Moreno, this represents the highest daily transfer volume among smaller holders since the collapse of FTX in November 2022, suggesting many users may be proactively securing their assets following the Coldcard advisory.

FTX Creditors Receive Another Round of Payments

Former FTX customers have begun receiving another round of bankruptcy repayments as the FTX Recovery Trust initiated approximately $900 million in creditor distributions.

Recipients reported receiving funds through distribution partners including Kraken, BitGo and Payoneer, following notification emails sent to eligible creditors last week.

The latest distribution marks the fifth major payout since FTX entered bankruptcy proceedings in late 2022.

With this round completed, the FTX Recovery Trust is estimated to have returned roughly $11 billion to former customers affected by the exchange’s collapse.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings surrounding the bankruptcy continue. A U.S. bankruptcy judge recently allowed the FTX estate to proceed with its $1.76 billion clawback claim against Binance and former CEO Changpeng Zhao, although broader damages claims were dismissed.

Crypto Industry Continues to Evolve

The day’s developments illustrate several major themes shaping the cryptocurrency industry.

Corporate Bitcoin treasury strategies continue evolving as companies actively manage digital asset holdings based on capital needs and business priorities.

At the same time, wallet security remains a critical focus as researchers investigate vulnerabilities affecting hardware wallet users, reinforcing the importance of strong key generation and security practices.

Meanwhile, the FTX bankruptcy process continues making meaningful progress toward compensating former customers, representing one of the largest creditor recovery efforts in cryptocurrency history.

Outlook

Today’s developments underscore the diverse forces influencing the cryptocurrency market, from corporate treasury decisions and cybersecurity challenges to ongoing bankruptcy recoveries. As institutional participation grows and security standards continue to evolve, market participants remain focused on protecting digital assets while navigating an increasingly mature and regulated crypto ecosystem.
