Key Points:

  • Ripple Prime will provide multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by Brevan Howard, which oversees approximately $35 billion in assets.
  • The expanded agreement gives Brevan Howard access to Ripple Prime across both traditional and digital asset markets.
  • The partnership builds on an existing relationship that includes Brevan Howard-affiliated funds participating in a $500 million Ripple investment in 2025, valuing the company at $40 billion.

Ripple is expanding its relationship with global alternative investment manager Brevan Howard by providing prime brokerage, clearing and financing services across traditional and digital asset markets.

Under the expanded agreement announced Tuesday, Ripple Prime will provide multi-asset services to funds managed by Brevan Howard, which oversees approximately $35 billion in assets. The arrangement extends an existing relationship between the companies as institutional investors increasingly seek infrastructure capable of supporting both conventional and digital markets.

Brevan Howard serves a global client base that includes sovereign wealth funds, corporate and public pension plans, foundations and endowments, giving the expanded partnership exposure to a broad institutional investment ecosystem.

Ripple Prime Expands Institutional Services

The agreement places Ripple Prime’s prime brokerage business at the center of the expanded relationship.

The platform will provide clearing and financing alongside multi-asset prime brokerage services, allowing eligible funds to access infrastructure across traditional financial markets and digital assets through the same institutional relationship.

The expansion reflects a broader convergence between conventional financial markets and digital assets. As institutional investors increase their exposure to cryptocurrencies and tokenized financial products, demand is growing for financial infrastructure that can operate across both market environments.

Brevan Howard Chief Operating Officer Alan McGroarty said the increasing connection between digital and traditional markets is creating greater demand for institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure that provides investors with a more integrated experience.

Partnership Builds on Ripple Investment

The expanded commercial agreement follows a significant financial relationship between the two companies.

Funds affiliated with Brevan Howard participated in a $500 million investment in Ripple in 2025. That transaction valued Ripple at approximately $40 billion.

The investment provided an earlier connection between Ripple and one of the world’s larger alternative investment managers, while the new prime brokerage agreement extends the relationship into financial-market services.

The development also comes as institutional asset managers continue exploring ways to integrate digital assets into established investment strategies without relying entirely on separate infrastructure for crypto-related activity.

Ripple Invests in Prime Brokerage Expansion

Ripple has been expanding its prime brokerage capabilities since entering the market through its acquisition of Hidden Road for approximately $1.25 billion in 2025.

The acquisition provided Ripple with an established prime brokerage platform and expanded its ability to offer services across institutional trading and financing.

In August, Ripple Prime raised $275 million through a senior note offering to support its expansion into prime brokerage, financing and multi-asset clearing.

The additional capital highlights the company’s broader strategy of building institutional infrastructure around digital assets rather than focusing exclusively on payments and blockchain settlement.

Traditional and Digital Markets Converge

The Brevan Howard agreement illustrates how the institutional digital asset market is increasingly being incorporated into broader financial infrastructure.

Prime brokerage services can provide institutions with access to financing, clearing and other market functions that are familiar from traditional financial markets. Extending those services to digital assets could reduce some of the operational separation between crypto markets and conventional investment portfolios.

For asset managers, the ability to access multiple asset classes through integrated infrastructure may become increasingly important as digital assets become more closely connected with traditional capital markets.

Outlook

Ripple’s expanded agreement with Brevan Howard demonstrates the company’s push to position Ripple Prime as institutional infrastructure spanning both traditional and digital assets. The partnership also highlights the growing demand among large asset managers for prime brokerage and clearing services capable of supporting an increasingly interconnected market.

The success of this strategy will depend on continued institutional adoption and the ability of Ripple Prime to scale its financing, clearing and custody-related infrastructure as digital assets become more integrated into professional investment operations.
