SKN | Robinhood Brings Crypto Trading to UK Investors Through Bitstamp

Robinhood is expanding its cryptocurrency business into the UK, allowing eligible users to trade more than 50 digital assets through the same application used for equities, options, futures and stocks and shares ISAs. The rollout comes as established financial platforms increasingly integrate crypto into broader investment ecosystems, while regulation and the ability to combine traditional and digital assets on a single platform become increasingly important to market participants.

More Than 50 Cryptocurrencies Added to the UK Platform

Robinhood’s UK crypto service is being introduced through Bitstamp UK, giving eligible customers access to more than 50 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Hyperliquid. The company said the service will initially carry zero trading fees, with no account-maintenance or custody charges, potentially lowering the cost barrier for users already active on Robinhood’s broader investment platform.

The integration is strategically significant because users will not need a separate application to access digital assets. Instead, crypto trading becomes another component of an existing platform that already combines traditional securities and derivatives. For Robinhood, that structure could increase engagement across asset classes while giving crypto exposure a more conventional portfolio-management setting.

AI Tools and Blockchain Infrastructure Expand the Offering

Alongside crypto trading, Robinhood is introducing Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto, a generative-AI feature designed to analyze breaking news, market data, technical indicators and Robinhood’s own insights when explaining factors behind price movements. The addition reflects a broader shift among financial platforms toward automated tools that help users interpret increasingly complex digital-asset markets.

The company is also opening access to its Robinhood Chain, a Layer 2 blockchain built on Arbitrum and connected to its broader on-chain infrastructure. Since its global debut on July 1, Robinhood said the network has processed more than $18 billion in decentralized-exchange trading volume and accumulated more than $840 million in total value locked. Those figures indicate that Robinhood’s strategy extends beyond brokerage services toward building infrastructure for on-chain activity.

UK Expansion Tests the All-in-One Crypto Model

Robinhood UK president and Bitstamp UK general manager Jordan Sinclair said the company sees a new wave of UK investors treating digital assets as part of diversified portfolios. The company’s approach combines trading, blockchain infrastructure, educational resources through Robinhood Learn and its Help Centre, and 24/7 in-app customer support.

The expansion also comes during an efficiency drive at Robinhood. In June, the company announced plans to reduce its workforce by 10%, affecting approximately 290 positions, as it sought to reduce management layers and improve operational efficiency. That makes the UK crypto launch relevant not only from a product perspective but also as part of Robinhood’s broader effort to expand its financial ecosystem while controlling its cost structure.

Looking ahead, the key test will be whether Robinhood can convert its existing UK user base into sustained crypto activity while maintaining compliance and operational reliability. The combination of more than 50 cryptocurrencies, zero trading fees at launch, AI-driven market information and blockchain infrastructure gives the company a broad offering, but competitive pressure remains significant. Adoption levels, trading volumes, regulatory developments and activity on Robinhood Chain will provide clearer evidence of whether the UK expansion becomes a meaningful source of growth for the company’s crypto business.
