Key Points

  • World Liberty Financial has launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network, enabling institutions to use it for settlement involving tokenized real-world assets.
  • USD1 has a market capitalization of about $4.05 billion, ranking it as the sixth-largest stablecoin by market value.
  • The integration expands Canton’s institutional use cases, connecting stablecoin settlement with derivatives collateral, lending, asset issuance and redemptions.

World Liberty Financial has launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network, bringing the Trump family-backed crypto venture’s dollar-pegged token into a blockchain infrastructure increasingly focused on institutional financial markets. The integration allows USD1 to function as the cash leg of transactions involving tokenized real-world assets, potentially connecting stablecoin liquidity with institutional settlement activity.

The move comes as financial institutions increasingly explore blockchain-based settlement for securities, lending and other capital-market transactions. For World Liberty, the Canton deployment provides another venue for expanding USD1 beyond conventional crypto trading and into institutional financial infrastructure.

USD1 Expands Into Institutional Settlement

According to the announcement, USD1 can be used for transactions involving derivatives collateral, institutional lending, asset issuance and redemptions.

The native deployment is significant because USD1 can settle alongside tokenized assets within the same transaction. Canton’s privacy and permissioning features are designed for institutional participants that may require greater control over transaction visibility and counterparties than is typically available on public blockchain networks.

USD1 currently has a market capitalization of approximately $4.05 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin, according to DeFiLlama data.

The stablecoin is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, which manages its reserves and handles minting and redemption activity. World Liberty Financial launched USD1 in March 2025, with the token backed by assets including short-term US Treasurys, government money market funds and dollar deposits.

Canton Targets Tokenized Financial Markets

The integration also strengthens Canton’s position as infrastructure for institutional blockchain applications.

Canton describes itself as a public, permissionless blockchain designed for institutional finance. The network says it processes more than $9 trillion in tokenized assets each month, while more than $350 billion in onchain US Treasurys moves across the network daily.

If those volumes continue to expand, integrating a dollar stablecoin directly into the network could give institutions a standardized digital settlement asset for transactions involving tokenized securities and other financial instruments.

The development reflects a broader shift in blockchain markets from token issuance toward financial-market infrastructure. Rather than simply representing assets onchain, networks are increasingly attempting to connect tokenized assets with settlement, collateral and liquidity mechanisms.

World Liberty Builds USD1’s Institutional Footprint

World Liberty Financial, launched in 2024, has increasingly positioned USD1 as a core component of its broader digital-asset strategy. Native issuance on Canton gives the stablecoin access to an ecosystem focused specifically on institutional applications.

The timing also follows another Canton-related initiative announced the previous week. Digital Asset and former US House Speaker Paul Ryan’s American Idea Foundation unveiled plans for a Canton-based pilot to distribute state-administered benefits across three US states beginning in 2027.

Together, the developments illustrate the widening range of proposed Canton applications, from government-linked payment systems to institutional asset settlement.

For USD1, the key test will be whether native availability on Canton translates into sustained institutional usage. The integration creates a technical pathway for stablecoin-based settlement, but adoption will ultimately depend on liquidity, regulatory acceptance, counterparty participation and the growth of tokenized financial markets. As institutions continue experimenting with blockchain settlement, USD1’s expansion onto Canton gives World Liberty Financial another route to compete for a role in the emerging digital financial infrastructure.
