Key Points

  • AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings plans to use the JPYC stablecoin to pay approximately 2,300 transportation contractors across Japan.
  • The initiative is expected to become the first large-scale corporate deployment of the yen-denominated JPYC stablecoin.
  • Stablecoin payments would enable faster and more frequent compensation by eliminating traditional bank transfer fees.
  • AZ-COM Maruwa is also considering a strategic partnership with JPYC Inc. and a potential investment exceeding 1 billion yen (approximately $6.2 million).

AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, one of Japan’s major logistics companies, is preparing to introduce JPYC, a yen-denominated stablecoin, as a payment method for thousands of transportation contractors.

According to reports, the company intends to use the digital currency to compensate approximately 2,300 business partners, including independent truck drivers and other transportation providers that support its nationwide logistics operations.

If implemented, the initiative would represent the first large-scale corporate adoption of the JPYC stablecoin within Japan.

Faster Payments for Transportation Contractors

The proposed payment system is designed to improve how contractors receive compensation.

Unlike conventional bank transfers, stablecoin transactions can be processed more quickly while avoiding many of the transfer fees associated with traditional payment networks.

This would allow AZ-COM Maruwa to make payments more frequently, improving cash flow for independent drivers and transportation businesses that often rely on timely settlements to manage operating expenses.

The initiative reflects growing interest in using blockchain-based payment systems to modernize business-to-business financial transactions.

Strategic Partnership Under Consideration

Beyond adopting the stablecoin for payments, AZ-COM Maruwa is reportedly evaluating a broader strategic relationship with JPYC Inc., the company behind the digital currency.

The logistics firm is also considering investing more than 1 billion Japanese yen, equivalent to approximately $6.2 million, to support the partnership and future development of the payment ecosystem.

The potential investment signals growing confidence in blockchain-based financial infrastructure among established Japanese corporations.

Blockchain Expands Into Traditional Logistics

AZ-COM Maruwa serves a wide range of commercial customers, including Amazon Japan, making it an important participant in the country’s logistics sector.

Introducing stablecoin payments into a supply chain of this scale could demonstrate how blockchain technology can improve operational efficiency beyond cryptocurrency trading and decentralized finance.

The move aligns with broader industry efforts to digitize payment processes, reduce settlement delays and lower transaction costs across commercial supply chains.

Stablecoins Gain Enterprise Momentum

Corporate adoption of stablecoins has accelerated as businesses explore alternatives to traditional payment systems for domestic and cross-border transactions.

Stablecoins combine the speed and programmability of blockchain networks with the price stability of fiat currencies, making them increasingly attractive for payroll, supplier payments and treasury management.

In Japan, where digital asset regulation has continued to evolve, enterprise use cases such as logistics payments may help drive broader acceptance of blockchain-based financial services.

Outlook

AZ-COM Maruwa’s planned adoption of the JPYC stablecoin highlights the expanding role of digital currencies in everyday commercial operations. If successfully implemented, the initiative could demonstrate how stablecoins can improve payment efficiency for large corporate networks while encouraging wider enterprise adoption of blockchain technology throughout Japan’s logistics and transportation industries.
