Key Points

  • Japanese stablecoin issuer JPYC has expanded its Series B funding round to approximately 6 billion yen ($38 million).
  • AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings joined the funding round as a new strategic investor to support stablecoin adoption in Japan’s logistics sector.
  • JPYC plans to use the new capital to expand its financial services and Web3 ecosystem while accelerating adoption of its yen-pegged stablecoin.
  • The partnership could integrate stablecoin payments with commercial transactions, logistics operations and onchain financial infrastructure.

Japanese yen-backed stablecoin issuer JPYC has completed an extension of its Series B financing round, increasing total funding to approximately 6 billion yen, or about $38 million.

The company announced that AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, one of Japan’s major logistics companies, has joined the round as a strategic investor.

Although JPYC did not disclose the size of AZ-COM’s individual investment, the latest extension increased the cumulative funding total by roughly 1 billion yen from the 5 billion yen announced earlier this year.

Capital to Support Stablecoin Growth

JPYC said the proceeds will be used to expand its financial infrastructure and strengthen its Web3 ecosystem.

The company plans to accelerate adoption of its yen-pegged stablecoin while developing additional blockchain-based financial services for businesses and consumers.

Management believes the new funding will help position JPYC as a key participant in Japan’s growing digital payments and tokenized finance ecosystem.

Strategic Partnership With Logistics Firm

The investment follows earlier reports that AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings was evaluating a significant strategic partnership with JPYC.

According to a report published by Nikkei in July, the logistics company has been exploring the use of JPYC’s stablecoin to make payments to approximately 2,300 delivery partners and transportation contractors.

The initiative aims to improve payment efficiency by enabling faster and more frequent digital settlements while reducing transaction costs.

Stablecoins Meet Logistics

JPYC said the collaboration extends beyond payments.

The company believes combining its stablecoin infrastructure with AZ-COM’s nationwide logistics network could support a broader onchain financial ecosystem that integrates commercial transactions, logistics operations and digital payments.

The partnership reflects growing interest among Japanese corporations in using blockchain technology to streamline business processes and modernize payment systems.

Stablecoin Adoption Continues to Expand

Corporate adoption of stablecoins has accelerated globally as businesses seek faster and lower-cost alternatives to traditional payment networks.

In Japan, interest has grown alongside the country’s evolving regulatory framework for digital assets and stablecoins.

JPYC’s latest funding round demonstrates increasing institutional confidence in blockchain-based payment infrastructure as stablecoins move beyond cryptocurrency trading into real-world commercial applications.

Outlook

JPYC’s expanded Series B funding underscores the growing momentum behind yen-denominated stablecoins in Japan. By partnering with major logistics companies such as AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, JPYC is positioning its stablecoin for practical commercial use cases beyond digital asset markets. As businesses continue integrating blockchain technology into payment and settlement systems, stablecoins are expected to play an increasingly important role in Japan’s evolving digital economy.
