SKN | Wyoming Adds Chainlink Reserve Verification to State-Issued FRNT Stablecoin

Key Points

  • Wyoming is integrating Chainlink Proof of Reserve to provide near-real-time onchain verification of reserves and token supply for its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT).
  • The Wyoming Stable Token Commission is also preparing to implement Chainlink Secure Mint, which would require verified reserves to cover FRNT’s circulating supply before new tokens are issued.
  • The integration expands Chainlink’s role across institutional financial infrastructure, including tokenized equities, stablecoin settlement and tokenized collateral.

Wyoming Brings Real-Time Reserve Data Onchain

Wyoming is expanding the transparency infrastructure behind its state-issued stablecoin by integrating Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve system with the Frontier Stable Token, known as FRNT.

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission said Wednesday that it adopted Chainlink Proof of Reserve to publish verified information about FRNT’s reserves and token supply directly onchain. The system combines independent reserve examinations conducted by The Network Firm with Chainlink’s oracle infrastructure, allowing reserve information to be made available on a near-real-time basis.

The move adds another layer of visibility to a stablecoin that already provides daily reserve attestations. It also goes beyond the monthly reserve composition and supply disclosures required under the GENIUS Act, giving users and market participants a more frequent view of changes in the token’s backing.

For a stablecoin issuer, the ability to verify reserves between formal reporting periods can help reduce uncertainty around whether outstanding tokens remain adequately backed.

Chainlink Secure Mint Could Add a Pre-Issuance Control

Wyoming is also working to adopt Chainlink’s Secure Mint functionality for FRNT.

Under the proposed system, new FRNT tokens would only be eligible for minting when verified reserves are equal to or greater than the token’s total supply. That would create an additional automated control between reserve verification and token issuance.

The mechanism is particularly relevant for a stablecoin backed by traditional financial assets, where the relationship between outstanding supply and underlying reserves is central to maintaining its intended value.

FRNT launched in January and is backed by US dollars and short-term US Treasurys. Interest generated from those reserves is deposited into Wyoming’s School Foundation Program, linking the stablecoin’s reserve structure to a public education funding mechanism.

Wyoming Recently Made Chainlink Its Cross-Chain Infrastructure

The latest reserve integration follows Wyoming’s decision roughly two weeks earlier to fully migrate FRNT from LayerZero to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol.

With the migration, Chainlink’s CCIP became the exclusive cross-chain infrastructure supporting FRNT, extending Chainlink’s role from data verification into the movement of the state-issued token across blockchain networks.

The combination of cross-chain infrastructure, reserve verification and potentially controlled minting gives Chainlink a broader role in the technical architecture surrounding FRNT.

Chainlink Expands Into Traditional Financial Markets

The Wyoming integration is part of a wider expansion by Chainlink into tokenized financial markets and institutional infrastructure.

The network recently became the pricing-data provider for Coinbase’s B20 tokenized equities following their August launch on Base. The feeds cover assets including Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet, allowing decentralized finance applications to price tokenized equities for lending, trading and collateral purposes.

Chainlink has also participated in Project Pangea alongside European and South Korean banking groups, which is exploring regulated euro- and won-denominated stablecoins for atomic foreign-exchange settlement.

Its institutional expansion has extended to the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, which plans to use Chainlink technology for a 24/7 tokenized-collateral management platform. Fidelity International has also launched a tokenized liquidity fund using Chainlink and Sygnum infrastructure, with JPMorgan supplying daily net asset value data.

LINK Gains as Institutional Integrations Accelerate

Chainlink’s expanding role in stablecoins and traditional financial infrastructure has coincided with stronger market performance for its native LINK token.

LINK was trading around $11.07 on Wednesday, according to CoinGecko data, representing a gain of more than 34% over the previous month.

The price movement comes as Chainlink increasingly positions its infrastructure as a bridge between blockchain-based assets and established financial markets. Wyoming’s use of Proof of Reserve and its planned Secure Mint integration adds another example of blockchain infrastructure being applied to public-sector digital assets rather than purely decentralized applications.

Outlook

Wyoming’s FRNT integration demonstrates how reserve transparency is becoming an increasingly important component of stablecoin infrastructure. Near-real-time verification could give users greater visibility into backing, while automated minting controls could strengthen the relationship between reserves and circulating supply. As more regulated institutions and public entities experiment with tokenized assets, Chainlink’s expanding role across data, interoperability and verification infrastructure could become increasingly significant to the development of blockchain-based financial markets.
