SharpLink, the second-largest corporate Ether treasury holder, reported a $394 million net loss for the second quarter of 2026, compared with a $103 million loss a year earlier. The loss included $321 million in unrealized cryptocurrency losses and $76 million in impairments on staked Ether. Despite the quarterly loss, SharpLink generated $11.5 million in revenue, including $11.1 million from ETH staking, while its cash and cash equivalents increased to $56 million.
Ether Decline Drives SharpLink’s Q2 Loss
SharpLink reported a $394 million net loss for the second quarter of 2026, a substantial increase from its $103 million net loss during the same quarter a year earlier.
The Miami-based company attributed much of the deterioration to the decline in Ether during the quarter. ETH fell approximately 23% during Q2, placing significant pressure on SharpLink’s large cryptocurrency treasury.
The company’s second-quarter loss included approximately $321 million in unrealized crypto losses and another $76 million in impairments related to staked Ether.
The results demonstrate the sensitivity of corporate crypto treasury companies to movements in the underlying digital assets they hold.
SharpLink Generates Revenue From ETH Staking
Despite the substantial investment-related losses, SharpLink generated $11.5 million in revenue during the quarter.
ETH staking represented the overwhelming majority of that amount, contributing approximately $11.1 million.
The staking income provides SharpLink with an additional source of revenue from its Ether holdings, although the value of the underlying assets remains exposed to cryptocurrency market volatility.
SharpLink also ended the quarter with $56 million in cash and cash equivalents, up from $28 million in December 2025.
Ether Treasury Remains at the Center of Strategy
SharpLink held 632,784 ETH, valued at approximately $1.2 billion based on the figures provided.
The company also held approximately 181,321 ETH through various liquid-staking tokens, valued at about $343 million.
Combined, the company’s ETH and liquid-staked ETH holdings totaled approximately 814,105 ETH based on the figures in the report.
SharpLink resumed purchasing Ether in late June after an eight-month pause, spending approximately $7.8 million on ETH.
Days later, the company purchased another 10,000 ETH for approximately $16 million, further expanding its exposure to the cryptocurrency.
SharpLink Remains a Major Corporate ETH Holder
SharpLink continues to rank among the largest corporate holders of Ether.
The company currently holds approximately 863,000 ETH, with the holdings valued at around $1.46 billion according to StrategicEthReserve data cited in the report.
Only Bitmine holds more Ether among corporate treasury companies, with approximately 5.54 million ETH, valued at roughly $9.4 billion.
The growing number of companies adopting cryptocurrency treasury strategies has created a new class of publicly traded businesses whose financial performance can be heavily influenced by digital asset prices.
Stock Declines as Investors Assess Results
SharpLink’s shares fell 3.9% on Monday, extending the stock’s decline to approximately 30% since the beginning of the year, according to Yahoo Finance data.
The stock performance reflects the challenges facing companies whose valuations are closely connected to cryptocurrency holdings.
For SharpLink, the combination of ETH price exposure, staking income and continued purchases means investors are effectively evaluating both the company’s operating strategy and its ability to manage a large digital asset treasury through volatile market conditions.
Closing Insights
SharpLink’s second-quarter results highlight the significant impact that cryptocurrency price movements can have on corporate digital asset treasuries. The company’s $394 million loss was driven primarily by unrealized crypto losses and impairments as Ether declined sharply during the quarter, although staking generated more than $11 million in revenue. With SharpLink continuing to accumulate ETH and maintain one of the largest corporate Ether treasuries, its future financial performance will remain closely tied to the direction of the cryptocurrency market and the company’s ability to generate income from its expanding holdings.
