Key Points:
- Solana recorded more than 263,000 newly minted SPL tokens in a single day, surpassing the previous peak seen during the 2024 memecoin cycle.
- Pump.fun accounted for 34,184 of the 40,360 tokens created through tracked launchpads, highlighting the continued dominance of memecoin launch platforms.
- The surge comes despite cooler overall memecoin activity, with Pump.fun remaining one of Solana’s largest revenue-generating protocols.
Solana Token Creation Hits Record High
Solana has reached a new all-time high for daily token issuance, with more than 263,000 new Solana Program Library tokens minted on Wednesday.
The figure represents a sharp increase from the network’s previous token-creation peak during the height of the 2024 memecoin cycle. In December 2024, Solana was recording approximately 40,000 to 50,000 new tokens per day.
The latest record indicates that token creation on Solana has expanded well beyond the levels associated with the previous memecoin boom, although the number of tokens created does not necessarily translate into equivalent increases in trading activity, liquidity or sustainable projects.
Pump.fun Drives Launchpad Activity
Memecoin launch platform Pump.fun accounted for the majority of tokens created through launchpads during the period.
Of the 40,360 tokens issued through tracked launchpads, Pump.fun was responsible for 34,184, according to Blockworks data.
Launchpads simplify the process of creating and launching tokens by automating much of the technical infrastructure required to issue and trade a new asset. They can also provide newly launched tokens with immediate visibility and access to liquidity.
The model has helped make token creation accessible to a much wider range of users, contributing to the rapid expansion in the number of assets being issued across Solana.
Token Volume Highlights Solana’s Activity
The record number of new tokens highlights Solana’s continued strength as a high-throughput environment for launching digital assets.
However, token issuance alone provides a limited measure of ecosystem health. A large proportion of newly created tokens can have limited liquidity, short trading lifespans or little activity after launch.
The distinction is particularly relevant in the memecoin market, where launch costs and technical barriers are low enough to allow thousands of assets to be created with relatively little capital.
Consequently, the 263,000-token milestone is better viewed as a measure of blockchain activity and experimentation than as evidence that hundreds of thousands of new projects have emerged.
Pump.fun Remains a Major Solana Revenue Driver
Despite a broader cooling in memecoin activity, Pump.fun remains a major source of economic activity on Solana.
The platform generated approximately $1.8 million in revenue over the preceding 24 hours, according to DefiLlama, making it Solana’s leading native protocol by daily revenue at the time of reporting.
Pump.fun briefly lost that position last Friday to Fomo, a social-oriented cryptocurrency trading application that combines trading functionality with a feed resembling social media.
Earlier in 2026, Pump.fun accounted for approximately one-third of Solana’s first-quarter revenue, generating $124 million from the network’s total $342 million during the period.
Outlook
Solana’s record token issuance demonstrates how quickly blockchain-based asset creation can scale when launch infrastructure becomes accessible to ordinary users. Pump.fun remains central to that activity, particularly across the memecoin segment, but the enormous gap between token creation and sustained economic value remains important. The next indicator for Solana will be whether the surge in issuance translates into lasting liquidity, trading activity and broader onchain adoption rather than simply a higher volume of speculative launches.
