XRP holders can now unlock liquidity without selling their digital assets after Flare’s FXRP token was approved as collateral in Sentora’s RLUSD Main vault on the Morpho lending protocol. The development expands decentralized finance (DeFi) functionality for one of the crypto market’s largest digital assets while strengthening the growing ecosystem around Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin.
The launch comes as institutional participation in decentralized finance continues to accelerate, with blockchain infrastructure increasingly bridging traditionally isolated ecosystems. As regulatory clarity improves and tokenized financial products gain traction, cross-chain lending solutions are becoming an important component of digital asset capital markets.
New Lending Infrastructure Unlocks XRP Liquidity
Under the new integration, XRP holders can convert their tokens into FXRP, transfer the wrapped asset onto the Ethereum network, deposit it as collateral through the Morpho lending protocol, and borrow RLUSD without liquidating their XRP positions.
The approval follows an institutional review by Sentora, which evaluated FXRP’s market behavior, oracle architecture, liquidity profile, and liquidation mechanisms before accepting the asset as eligible collateral. The lending infrastructure operates on Morpho Blue, whose isolated lending markets are designed to limit systemic risk by containing potential issues within individual collateral pools.
For investors, the arrangement creates additional capital efficiency by allowing XRP holders to maintain market exposure while accessing dollar-denominated liquidity.
RLUSD and XRP Expand Their Institutional Utility
XRP currently carries a market capitalization of approximately $67 billion, making it the world’s sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market value. Meanwhile, RLUSD, Ripple’s U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, has grown to roughly $1.5 billion in market capitalization.
The RLUSD Main vault currently holds approximately $280 million in deposited RLUSD, making it the largest institutionally curated RLUSD vault operating on Ethereum. By enabling FXRP as collateral, Ripple’s ecosystem gains access to a significantly broader decentralized lending market while increasing the practical use cases for both XRP and RLUSD.
The integration also reflects a broader industry trend in which major cryptocurrencies are evolving beyond simple payment assets into productive collateral supporting decentralized credit markets.
Cross-Chain DeFi Continues to Attract Institutional Interest
Investor sentiment toward institutional decentralized finance has strengthened as established digital assets become increasingly integrated into lending, borrowing, and collateral management platforms. Rather than relying solely on speculative price appreciation, investors are seeking opportunities to generate liquidity and capital efficiency while retaining long-term asset exposure.
Flare’s infrastructure effectively extends XRP’s functionality into Ethereum’s mature DeFi ecosystem, similar to how Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) introduced Bitcoin liquidity into decentralized finance. By allowing institutions and large holders to utilize XRP within regulated lending frameworks, the integration could deepen liquidity across both ecosystems.
The collaboration also highlights the growing role of interoperable blockchain infrastructure, where assets originating on one network can participate seamlessly in financial applications built on another.
Institutional DeFi Adoption May Continue to Accelerate
Looking ahead, market participants will monitor whether institutional demand for FXRP-backed lending expands beyond its initial launch and whether additional protocols adopt XRP-based collateral. The continued growth of RLUSD and cross-chain lending infrastructure could further strengthen Ripple’s position within decentralized finance while broadening the utility of one of the crypto market’s largest digital assets.
For sophisticated crypto investors, the development illustrates how blockchain ecosystems are increasingly prioritizing capital efficiency, interoperability, and institutional-grade financial infrastructure. As decentralized lending matures, integrations that transform established cryptocurrencies into productive collateral may become an increasingly important driver of long-term digital asset adoption.
